The weather was perfect, about 3 hours of sunshine and some overcast, winds 4 to 10 and about 3 o'clock they started gusting to 15.... No Rain :)
We started a little slow but by the pilots meeting we had close to 40 pilots. Shortly after that the number climbed and peaked at 54 pilots, at best count about 170 people (pilots included) came through to enjoy the day.
A pilot fee of $10 was charged which included pilots lunch and a thank you gift which was a bottle of ca glue. Gift provided by Larks & CJ's Hobby located in Lake City SC.
We were graced by the flying skills of JR Heli Pilot Marcus Kim and Extreme Flight's Chris Jewett on the planker. Both these very talented pilots took center stage for about 10 minutes each during lunch.
A really big raffle began right after lunch. We gave away 4 prizes to kids 12 and under; three models donated by Doctor Matt Miller and one rtf Skyzone Sky Fly 2 donated by Hobby Town USA with two Columbia locations.
Then the big boys started winning. The pilots raffle was a 7 channel Futaba Fasst Rx (to a Futaba pilot), we gave 3 Spektrum Rx to the JR/Spektrum pilots. You ask why 3 vs.1? We asked at sign in which brand Rx you preferred, we had 9 Futaba pilots and 45 JR/Spektrum. We had a couple 5 channel Rx that we added to the 7 channel Spektrum so a few more people would enjoy a pilots prize. These Rx provided by Larks & CJ's Hobby located in Lake City SC.
